The introduction of exotic species always poses numerous threats and challenges when it is introduced. In the present study, the growth performances of L. vannamei in the fresh and brackish water fed ponds were compared. The water quality parameter such as temperature, salinity, pH and dissolved oxygen were also periodically monitored. The daily growth rate (DGR) in the fresh and brackish water pond were ranged between 0.1 to 0.23 g and 0.14 and 0.34 g respectively. The shrimp reached the maximum weight of 33.3 g on 157th days in fresh water pond and 30.66 g on the 129th days of culture in the brackish water pond. In the case of freshwater fed ponds, the culture days prolonged. The final survival of the fresh water pond was 75 % and in the case of brackish water pond it was 93.5%.
